7 Gifts from God - Renewal Part 3
The next part of renewal that shines through after you've worked on your forgiveness is spiritual serenity. It's the peace you can feel deep down in your soul and radiates out of your body. It's the sense of knowing no matter what, you're going to be alright and Spirit will not let you down. It's a very calm feeling, a relaxing feeling.
If you've been following along by now you should have a daily spiritual practice that engages your soul and spirit through meditation. Your body should be feeling healthier from making good food choices and daily exercise. You should be gaining mental control of your thoughts and emotions and quieting your mind and fears. You should feel the powerful connection Spirit has to us and everyone and everything. You've learned how to forgive yourself and others and have prepared yourself for further growth to come. So be proud of yourself and be happy! If you aren't quite there yet, that's ok, just keep working on the steps and you'll get there.
Sometimes after a lot of hard work its nice to be able to just relax and look back at what you have accomplished and be grateful for all you have done. It's easy to get caught up in the world around us and lose sight of our daily practices but if we keep trying, that's what matters. So take a deep breath and release it slowly and know you are making great changes in your life and laying the foundation to maintain the great things yet to come. When you really let go and let go God you can feel Spirit's presence and peace all around you.
All of the above should help you feel and see the spiritual serenity you are creating all around you. Your body should be able to relax, you should be able to sleep well at night and not find yourself all tensed up waiting for the next thing to happen. If your shoulders are so tight they are up to your ears, its time to let it go and really let everything you've done so far sink in. Spirit will lift all the weight off your shoulders so you can let them relax, just ask. Spirit loves you and has your back!
Once you feel your soul can rejoice in the peace and relaxation that is Spirit, its time to move on. But take the time to really feel how peaceful and easy life can be. Things may come up but they are opportunities to practice the things you've been working on internally. The events that happen to you and around you are giving you the chance to remain strong in your spiritual serenity and bring into the physical world the practices that you have up till now been doing in your mind, heart and soul.
I'll give you an example: our internet stopped working last Saturday because our modem gave out. The lady I called about it was very rude, I let her words and actions trigger an emotional response in me. I got mad. I wasn't rude and I stayed in control of my actions but I was angry inside. When I got off the phone I had a little rant to my husband and he said he needed to do some school work online. Great! So I contacted a friend that lives close and has invited to numerous things at her house and we had never gone. She said we could gladly come over and use her computer and internet as she was having a family cookout.
We headed over there and on the drive I asked Spirit why this was happening. Then realized I was letting the situation get to me. I realized I needed to practice what I know and not let the situation around me cause me to be so upset and put the negative feelings in my body. I said a little prayer and took a few deep breathes. I decided that I was going to enjoy the time with my friend and not remain upset over things I could not change. I decided to call back to see what could be done with the internet since I had gotten no where with the lady before. A very nice man answered and had a new modem mailed out. Situation handled, and much more peacefully.
In the mean time my friend said we could borrow her laptop until we got internet back so my husband could do his school work somewhere with wi-fi or we could come back. When my husband finished we hung out a while and played some games with my friend and her family ended up having a great time. When we got home that night I said to my husband that was a really nice little outing and he agreed. So instead of stewing all night and agonizing over things I couldn't change I let it go. Not only did it get resolved without much stress, we ended up having a wonderful time.
Since then I've had a few minor things happen that could have caused upset or awoken my sense of injustice, but I was able to let them go and enjoy and appreciate my time. I hope you are able to keep the serenity in your soul and start to look at the things around you as chances to grow and practice. Please share your experiences and opportunities below! Love & Blessings!
