After that point we decided it was time to clean it up.
It stayed clean for a month or so, mainly because we never go in there, when one day my husband said no more crafting in the living room. Apparently he was tired of the mess and my promises that I would clean it up as soon as I was finished which never seemed to happen because I always had a new project. I had actually been thinking a few days before that I would love to turn that unused office space into a craft room for all my creations but didn't think hubby would be on board with that, he had his space in there (the black desk set which we ended up selling) and I had mine. So I was happily surprised when he stated no more crafting in the living room followed up with you can have the office and turn it into whatever you want as long as you keep your crafts in there. I pretended to be a little hurt and asked him if my company wasn't wanted in the living room while crafting but in all honesty I was game! So the wheels started turning and this was the outcome.
I painted the walls a light gray using Valspar Signature Interior Matte Latex Paint & Primer in One in Gravity, this paint worked well, only doing about two coats with no primer. I used this same paint on my desk chair and it did turn out a little lighter than the wall color but I like it. I painted my desk using a Valspar sample paint in Ultra White, both the chair and the desk got a light coat of wax for some added protection. I reupholstered the seat of the chair using a chevron pattern.
We had a dresser we got cheap off craigslist and my husband had painted it white a few months back, I sanded this down and painted it with another Valspar sample paint in Sprinkle giving the room some much needed storage. The knobs I painted gold on the dresser and the desk.
I then rolled in my old art desk that luckily hadn't sold and I now have the perfect workspace.
Overall I love the room's makeover and can't wait to get some things hung on the wall. Happy Crafting!
