This past Saturday the Pink Heals Triad Chapter had their first annual 5k run. There was an awesome turn out despite the rainy weather. For those of you not aware of who and what this group is you are missing out, prepare to be informed! When I was battling cancer this amazing group of people supported me and kept me going. The Triad Chapter of this national Pink Heals Guardians of the Ribbon group was started by Charles Goins, a fireman and truly inspiring person.
It all started with Sofie, the pink fire truck and sweet girl battling cancer, now for the second time. Then there was my battle and a pink police car named in my honor. Whitney and Sofie travel doing home visits to those battling cancer and although they are pink, they support everyone battling all types of cancer. They can be spotted at parades to bring awareness to the fight and at hospitals to spread some joy. Part of the pink heals mission is to bring the community together to support fundraisers where the money raised goes directly to the person in need and not just to a "cure" or a "cause".
This is a group worth checking out and donating some time to. To learn more about the Pink Heals mission and national group go here and to learn more about the Triad Chapter go here. To see the fun excitement from the 5k go here. Look for the Pink Heals Tour as they make their way around the country and show your support, you can also sign the pink vehicles as a survivor, a fighter or in honor or memory of someone who has been done the road of cancer. Thank you to Charles and all the Guardians and the friends I've made along the way who have made my battle and journey easier and worth the fight.
